Ever wonder why most of the earth’s greatest teachers lived very simple lives ?
Time. More time.
If you live simply there is more time to spend on everything, such as:
contemplation, recreation, health, education, family, appreciation, writing, teaching, creating, and rest.
For everything we own or posess physically or mentally, some time must be spent attending to it, fixing it, protecting it, worrying about it, and of course, paying for it, and finally, discarding it.
There’s nothing wrong with having abundant property. It’s a practical matter. We should know what the true cost of possessions is, and determine if it’s worth it. How much stuff do we really need to be content and function efficiently in our work ? At what point does owning things become more a burden than it’s worth ?
Many wise people figured this out a long time ago. Live simply, efficiently, thoughtfully. You’ll enjoy your life much more that way.
“Yeah, but modern life isn’t like that, I gotta have a lot of stuff”
To some extent that’s true, but there are many options:
For example, one can often rent or borrow things they like to use, but use rarely. Instead, in our culture everyone has the same tool or object in their house or garage, gathering dust. For example, a lawnmower. Used once a week or so, for a couple of hours. Cost: Buy, store, maintain, repair, clean, and eventually discard.
Okay, so maybe we need a good lawnmower. But what about all that other stuff we have that we haven’t used in 3 years, stuff we have totally forgotten about that were once so special we bought them ?
Another example; many people dream of owning a boat. Then they get one and it costs so much time and effort to use it, store it, insure it, that after a few exciting uses it sits in the garage or yard, eventually to be sold to another dreamer. A larger family can buy a boat or camper, and they all share it’s use and cost. In Aviation, collective ownership of an expensive aircraft is common. Why not apply the principle to other things, like riding mowers, beach homes, cabins, vacation properties, etc.
If you’ve never done so, spend a few hours at a local landfill transfer station and watch what people throw away these days. It will amaze you. I had a friend who used to sell stuff on Ebay that he got for free at the local dump. He found an item once that he sold for 4,000 dollars. He made many thousands per year just doing that.
The fact that there’s a huge industry devoted to getting rid of the stuff we no longer want should tell us something about ourselves as a culture.
If you need some cash quickly, take a good look around your house or neighborhood. You can find something to sell on Ebay for a “buy it now” price. Or, go to your town dump on a Saturday morning, especially in the springtime, and you could make hundreds of dollars a week extra, working from home.
In business, simplicity is also very valuable.
For example, many start-up companies buy a whole bunch of junk they don’t need, like luxury furniture, or top of the line, new equipment, or they rent a big office. That can cause problems. Young businesses in particular need to keep it simple.
Get what you really need, and use it well. When the cash starts coming in, think carefully about where the money goes. Do you really need a new computer, car, office ?
Give away things and time
One of the most powerful assets successful businesses have is goodwill. It’s impossible to measure but it can sustain a business for a very long time. If as a person, and in your business, you give generously and sincerely, the goodwill you create is magnetic to customers and other associates. Trust. To get it, give.
In an era of highway robbery, false claims, shot-gun style advertising, people stand out clearly when they pause, listen, and respond to their customers, suppliers, and employees. Be different, be real.

What do I do if I’m really low on money and need cash FAST
Okay folks, I know how it feels to be poor, believe me.
First thing, collect yourself, there are things you can do to make some cash soon. There are a number of things that you can do, not just one thing.
Step one
Do you have a bank account? If so, go online to Paypal, and set up an account with them. Paypal asks for a bank account that you can use to transfer money to and from. What happens is you create an account so you can get paid online from anywhere by anyone who has a paypal account or credit / debit card. You need that first so you can collect the money you’re going to make. Look at these option and see if it’s something you can do.

Selling something you got for free on Ebay
Find some stuff to sell on ebay. If you think you don’t have anything, think again. Just about everything sells on Ebay, and sometimes you can sell stuff right away, with a BUY IT NOW price to your Paypal account that you set up. They pay for shipping, too, so don’t worry about that.
Look around your house, yard, ask friends or neighbors, and get some stuff together. What you are looking for is something with fairly high value ( 30 or more dollars ), that you can easily ship. It can’t be real bulky, like a bicycle or furniture. Lego, watches, old pens, clocks, useful small appliances, stereos, CD players, games, quality clothes. You can research on ebay what stuff sells, so go onto their site and set up an account. Generally, the higher quality the merchandise, the more likely it will sell fast for more money. In other words, the name brands.
Just because it’s big or bulky doesn’t mean you can’t sell it on Ebay. Just make sure it’s worth a good penny, worth shipping or delivering. You can always lists something as “local pickup only”, great for cars, machinery, furniture, etc. And, you will be surprised what people in say, Japan, or China, will pay in shipping to get things like vintage cameras, tube amps, etc. Do some research.
Take some DECENT pictures of the thing you’re selling
I can’t tell you how many times I got a great deal on something because the photo was terrible, but I knew its value. You don’t need a pro photographer or camera. Use a decent point and shoot digital camera, use daylight, or near a window. Have an uncluttered contrasting background, and take several photos, not just one. People will buy what they can see. Give them a good view from several angles. If it’s a small item and you need a closeup, don’t expect a cheap digital camera to do macro shots, although many of them have a setting for that. take a photo at a proper focus distance, in high resolution mode, and later crop it down to size so you can see details.
Follow through on the Ebay listing process, load up a few good photos, write a full, informative, and accurate description, and select a price. To find a price, type is some searches on Ebay for your item, see what’s out there selling, and look at the prices. Look at completed listings ( ebay has a box you can check to see ended auctions ).
If you need money really fast, list your item with a very attractive BUY IT NOW price. You will likely get a fast sale if it’s something in demand.
Selecting the item to sell.
List your best and biggest value items first, get them going. Then work on the smaller stuff. They will sell too, but it can take as much time and effort to sell a small item as it does to sell a bigger item.
Choose something you can manage to ship and pack easily. UPS can pick it up, or you can take it to the post office. Things that are not fragile are even better, like clothes, or baseball gloves. You don’t want to have any broken items or your reputation on Ebay will suffer. Always leave our customers feedback. Most of them will respond in kind.
Now, watch your auctions, like little baby trees.
See how many visitors and watchers there are. For every few “watchers”, there will be a “bidder”. Try adjusting the price on slow moving items. If it’s a hot item, you’ll have watchers or even bidders quite fast.
I often use a 10 day auction. You have to pay a tiny bit, like 40 cents, and wait 3 more days. It always pays off with more bids and higher sale price. Include a BUY IT NOW price if you want a fast sale. Don’t worry if the bids seem low. A lot of people but in a minimal bid at first, but they are watching it. Many times, the last few minutes of the auction is where the price really spikes up. If you have more than one bidder, that’s a really good sign.
People are looking for bargains, so don’t ask for the moon.
If you need fast cash, sell stuff fast for good prices and just go get more stuff. There’s PLENTY of stuff around to sell on Ebay. You can get a lot of stuff free if you know where to go: yard sales, rummage sales, town dumps ( Yes, people throw away thousands of dollars worth of valuables stuff. )
I have a friend who used to make 10,000 dollars a year selling stuff he got at the dump, before it went into the crusher. That income saved his house and his marriage, and allowed him to spend a lot of time with his young children.
Take a look around your home, then go onto Ebay. Start making some money, my friend. You have hidden cash all over the place.

What skills do you need to make money online?
Well, that’s a really good question.
If you read some of these pitches, you’ll start thinking a dog can do make a fortune online. Not quite.
The truth is, you need to know how to do some things.
For example:
You need to read, write, listen, think, take notes, and plan.
You need to get online, type some words to sign up, copy and paste text, type in words to research on some websites.
You need to set up a way to collect your money, sometimes paypal, or a check, or direct deposit. You can use Paypal, for example. When you sell something, the money will go right in there and you can use an ATM card to get it out.
Those are the basics.
Now, for best results, you should also do some research about the internet.
What are people interested in? How do they find what they want, and what are they buying? You will be surprised to discover; people are buying just about EVERYTHING online. TIP: one thing people buy a LOT of online, is INFORMATION. We need to know a lot of stuff these days to manage our lives, our health, our businesses.
It will help you to find a good, profitable NICHE to sell in.
